quilts and quilt buddies

i am a huge fan of Tanya Whelan's designs. i cant get enough those Dolce fabrics!! i love the colors and how the patterns strike a perfect balance of a vintage feel & yet completely modern all at the same time. According to her website a new line of fabric will debut this fall, i cant wait. So until then, I will be machine quilting my lastest quilt featuring Dolce fabric. Along with my quilt buddy, who loves quilts as well rolling herself up in batting.

more holiday gift ideas . . .

you can imagine my excitement when these arrived at my front door last Friday. oh, how sweet it is! these beauties are Laurie Wisbrun's creation from her Tufted Tweets line by Robert Kaufman, purchased from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics. Randi at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics always does such a great job. Fabrics arrive quickly, packaged appropriately with lots of attention to detail. She was even sweet enough to send along the 2 charm squares pictured above, what a surprise. Thanks !

AND she has a great tutorial for a drawstring bag on her blog. I think these fabrics will make unique whimsical bags, perfect for holiday gift giving. Thank you Randi !!

End of Summer

The end of summer is almost here and that means its time to start thinking about the Holidays and a handmade Christmas. My first order of business is always hand-knitted socks. My family cant get enough of them, they start eyeing them up before they are even hot off the needles.

Luckily socks are an easy take along project that you can pick up & put down quickly, doesnt take up alot of room, and isnt too hot even in the humid dog days of summer. I still use the four double pointed needles via the top down method. I have tried other methods, some of which I agree are faster to knit & more efficient use of yarn. Call me old fashioned, but I still always seem to go back to the ol' tried & true method.

Finished Quilt

latest finished quilt . . . . . .was supposed to be a wedding present, unbeknownst to the happy couple. how wrong would it be if I kept said quilt, forever as my own, as it happens to coordinate perfectly in my bedroom??
my guilt, that is quilt guilt makes me think I should send it on its way to its new home, asap. But something holds me back from going to the post office. . . . . . how selfish.
Ever had a quilt you just somehow couldnt part with? Ever experience the dreaded . . . . quilt guilt???
